With the continuous elevation of global environmental standards, the Middle East has imposed more stringent requirements on the reliability and durability of wastewater treatment facilities. Recently, a wastewater treatment plant in the Middle East was in urgent need of an ultra-long shaftless screw conveyor for sludge handling. The core challenge of this project lay in the conveying length of up to 32 meters and, restricted by on-site working conditions, the entire equipment could only be equipped with a single drive system. The 32-meter ultra-long distance, combined with the demanding condition of a single drive, posed an extreme test to the equipment’s torque transmission, concentricity control, and anti-deflection capabilities. Meanwhile, the sludge from the wastewater plant featured extreme corrosiveness and abrasiveness, and the overseas client had specific standards regarding the brand of the drive unit and the convenience of future maintenance. Faced with this series of technical challenges, Henan Zhengzhou Mining Machinery Co.,Ltd rose to the occasion and undertook the project, leveraging its profound technical expertise.

Project Solution

Addressing the client’s pain points and demands, the technical team of Henan Zhengzhou Mining Machinery Co.,Ltd conducted comprehensive technical research and provided a perfect solution that balanced both performance and service life:
First, in terms of material selection, considering the severe corrosiveness of the wastewater sludge, the technical team decisively upgraded both the conveyor casing and the spiral flights to 316L stainless steel. This fundamentally resisted chemical and electrochemical corrosion, ensuring the equipment’s long-term stable operation under harsh working conditions.
Second, to counter the severe abrasiveness of the sludge, the team broke away from conventional designs by specifically thickening the casing wall and the flight thickness. By increasing the redundancy of wear materials, the anti-wear service life of the equipment was significantly extended, thereby reducing the client’s frequency of downtime for replacements.
The most core challenge lay in the “32-meter ultra-long + single drive” combination. To solve the issues of torque attenuation and axis deviation in long-distance single-point driving, the technical team performed precise mechanical calculations and structural optimizations on the drive system, ensuring that the single drive could stably output robust power. Meanwhile, the drive unit featured the carefully selected international brand SEW. This not only provided outstanding performance and smooth operation but also fully considered the convenience for overseas clients to procure wearing parts and spare parts, completely eliminating their future concerns.

Project Implementation

During the project implementation phase, Henan Zhengzhou Mining Machinery Co.,Ltd demonstrated exceptional manufacturing and delivery capabilities. Given the equipment’s length of 32 meters, the requirements for machining precision and on-site assembly were extremely high. Throughout the production process, the company strictly adhered to international quality standards, exerting precise control over the welding, molding, and overall dynamic balance of the thickened 316L flights. This ensured the concentricity and stability of the ultra-long spiral during high-speed operation. The installation and commissioning of the SEW drive system also underwent repeated calculations and optimizations by the technical personnel to ensure highly efficient matching of power output.
