The rotary cooler project designed by Zhengzhou Mining Machinery (Zhengkuang Machine) for the client in Pingdingshan City, Henan Province, serves as a significant application case within the special ceramic materials sector. As a core component of the annual 30,000-ton fine ceramic alumina powder production line, the design process of this equipment fully demonstrates Zhengkuang Machine's core technical advantages and engineering实践经验 in the field of rotary cooling equipment.
I. Solution Design
The client's enterprise primarily produces high-end ceramic raw materials, such as magnesium-aluminum spinel and α-alumina, demanding extremely high standards for cooler stability, cooling efficiency, and material quality control. The technical team at Zhengkuang Machine first conducted on-site inspections and technical exchanges. Based on the specific characteristics of the alumina powder and the client's production capacity requirements, they established the design goals of "high efficiency and low energy consumption." Considering the special requirements during the alumina powder cooling process, a φ2.4×24.2m single-drum cooler was ultimately selected.
II. Core Optimizations
1. Heat Exchange System: Features a unique petal-shaped heat exchanger design. The outer jacket controls the cylinder temperature through circulating water, while the inner layer, via optimized lifter blade angles and structure, creates a specific airflow field to meet material cooling targets.
2. Optimized Inlet/Outlet Structure: The feed hood utilizes a sloped chute method for material entry, with the chute fully inserted into the cooler's feed end. The feed end is equipped with temperature and pressure measurement ports; the discharge end has a 1-meter section of the cylinder with screen openings. Both the inlet and outlet seals employ a three-layer flexible sealing structure (stainless steel fish-scale strips + carbon-silicon-aluminum composite board + stainless steel fish-scale strips) plus labyrinth seals. The areas of the cylinder contacting the fish-scale strips are fitted with wear rings.
3. Intelligent Control: Integrates temperature sensors and a variable frequency speed regulation system to automatically adjust the cylinder rotation speed based on material flow, ensuring uniform cooling.
Furthermore, during the equipment manufacturing stage, Zhengkuang Machine breakthroughly used large vertical lathes for integrated machining of the cylinder and laser cutting technology for producing special-shaped lifter blades. The equipment installation was completed in March 2025 and is currently in the commissioning and verification phase. The successful implementation of this project not only showcases Zhengkuang Machine's innovative capabilities in the field of special cooling equipment but also provides an efficient and reliable process solution for the large-scale production within the alumina ceramic industry.
