1. The rod mill is mainly used for coarse grinding. The particle size of the ore grinding products is generally 1 ~ 3mm, while the particle size could be 0.5mm for the gravity mill. If too small particle size, the grinding efficiency will decrease significantly. Because the influence of grinding motion in the mill, the diameter of rod mill should not be greater than 4500mm, grinding rod length should not be more than 6000mm. the ratio of rod mill and ball mill should be 1:2 when the rod mill and ball mill operate together.
2. Lattice type ball mill is mainly used for coarse grinding, usually for the first section grinding of the single stage grinding or two stage grinding. If in closed operation, the grinding fineness is 50% ~ 70%-0.074mm. The grinding machine is mainly equipped with multiple spiral classifier.
3. The overflow type ball mill can be used for one section grinding, which also can be used for the second section grinding or intermediate products regrinding. Currently it is mainly used for the second section grinding or intermediate products regrinding, and the classifer is usually equipped with hydrocyclone. For the first stage grinding mill, the mill is sometimes equipped with spiral classifier. Large scale ball mill (typically greater than 4000mm in diameter) mostly adopt the overflow type ball mill with hydraulic cyclone to form grinding circuit, which simplifies the machine structure, easy and convenient in maintenance and repair.
4. In the selection of the autogenous mill, the semi self-autogenous mill and pebble mill type, it’s very important to pay attention on whether there are good self grinding media in the ores, which can use the grinding medium tester to measure the ore grinding medium index and use data processing to determine whether has a good self grinding media, whether need the self grinding, semi autogenous grinding and pebble mill grinding semi industrial test.
