The Grate Cooler is a quench-type cooling device. After the roasted lithium concentrate from the conversion process enters the cooler through the kiln hood, it is spread into a material layer of a certain thickness on the grate plates. Cold air is blown in and passes through the moving material layer on the grate bed in perpendicular directions, allowing the clinker to be rapidly quenched. The hot material can be quenched from 1050–1200°C to below 100°C within just a few minutes.
