Ceramic sand is also called as proppant, is the ceramic granular product with high fracture strength, mainly used as support in oil well, thus increasing the production of oil and gas, which is the environmentally friendly product. This product uses high-quality bauxite and other raw materials, sintered by ceramic, is a substitute for natural quartz sand, glass beads, metal balls and other low-strength proppant, having great effect for increasing oil and gas.
Ceramic sand is the critical materials for the exploration, crushing and construction of oil and gas with low permeability. When applied to deep well’s fracturing construction, it is filled in the crack deposits of low permeability, treated by high fracturing closure process. So that hydrocarbon formation is split, as the supporting role, fissures are not closed due to pressure. In that way, high conductivity of oil and gas is maintained, the service life of oil and gas wells is extended.
This product uses high quality bauxite, magnesium and other raw materials, processed by milling powder, granulation, sintering and other procedures, which is the low-intensity proppant alternatives for natural quartz sand, glass balls, metal balls, having great effect for the oil and gas’ yield increase.
Ceramic sand has the following characteristics:
1.Sufficient capacity of compressive strength and resistance to abrasion, could withstand strong pressure and friction during injection, and effectively supporting the artificial crack;
2. Particles have low density, relatively easy to pumped into the well.
3. Particles’ diameter isn’t in line with the different design requirements, generally 0.4-0.8mm, wells’ roundness and sphericity are greater than 0.9, particles are uniformity, the surface is smooth, turbidity values were less than 100 degrees, with a high conductivity;
4. Under the temperature of 200 degrees, Particles don’t have chemical effect with the fracturing fluid and the reservoir fluid, the acid solubility of the maximum permissible value should be less than 7%.
Ceramic sand not only has a high density, but also has advantages of good sphericity, resistance to corrosion, high temperature, high pressure resistance. Meanwhile the costs could be better controlled, and therefore more and more widely used in oil and gas fields.
Practices have proved that using ceramic oil proppant to support fractured oil wells, the production could be increased by 30-50%, which is the critical materials for exploration and construction of oil, gas wells with low permeability, not only increasing oil and gas production, but also extending the service life of oil and gas wells.
